Vibrant, vigorous and amazingly varied – that’s the region’s artistic and cultural life, and it doesn’t stop. From highbrow to eyebrow-raising, from the sublimely refined to the raucously raffish, there’s something for every taste. Bath’s Theatre Royal, one of the most beautiful in Britain, has a repertoire that matches its reputation. After two centuries it is still attracting the world’s leading names, and is a favourite for pre-West End releases.  The recently converted and more experimental Ustinov Studio at the rear offers a very special space for smaller productions. For performances in more intimate spaces, seek out the Rondo, Kingswood Theatre and Window Arts Centre – all three are firm favourites with local audiences.
