Omagh (em inglês)

Omagh, Tyrone’s County town, less than two hours from Belfast, is an ideal central location to explore Northern Ireland. A long, steep main street is dominated by a classical-styled courthouse and, behind it, rise the gothic-styled twin spires of the Sacred Heart Church and the single spire of the St Columba’s Church. The confluence of the Drumragh and Camowen rivers merge in the centre of town to form the river Strule, a pulsing artery that makes up part of the Foyle River System, one of the premier salmon and sea trout fisheries in Northern hemisphere.

The cultural identity of the area is encapsulated in the many music, song, and literary events held throughout the year, such as, the Appalachian and Bluegrass Music Festival, the Omagh and District Arts Festival, and the Mid-summer Carnival.

The Ulster American Folk Park, one of the top UK visitor attractions, is the ideal place to learn the story of the Irish who left these shores.   It tells the story of the thousands of emigrants who left Ireland for the New World of North America in the 18th & 19th centuries.
